EVIL DOES NOT EXIST in ABIGAIL

Two nugget sized movie reviews

Something I noticed about genre films. Especially the horror genre.

The level of forgiveness from the viewer is high.

I can forgive a similar plot template. I can even forgive stereotypical characters so long as the filmmaker delivers the requisite thrills required of the genre.

Which brings me to Abigail.

BRIEF PLOT SUMMARY: A group of misfits kidnap a ballerina hoping for a big payoff ransom from her super wealthy father. Only to discover that the ballerina is not an innocent and frightened little girl but a blood thirsty, angry, spiteful vampire.

My Impression: If you examine the premise, you realize that it is like another awesome flick, DON’T BREATHE. In that movie, a group of young adults break into a house that belonged to a blind man. They think they have the upper hand until they realize that the blind man is an ex-soldier who has booby trapped his house to guard against intruders like the young adults.

So yes, I am familiar with the plot template.

I knew there would be a huge midpoint reveal, which would be the little girl turning into something else.

But I continued watching.
